Litigation & Arbitration
At VdA we represent domestic and foreign companies in significant disputes related to commercial, administrative, banking and labour law matters, before the Courts of Portugal and Portuguese and international arbitration centres, such as the International Chamber of Commerce.
We advise on commercial litigation issues that include, inter alia:
- disputes on major distribution agreements
- shareholders' conflicts
- intellectual property matters, including patent litigation
Our litigation and arbitration group has also developed a high degree of expertise in the banking industry, representing clients in a large spectrum of cases, from insolvency procedures to specific regulatory issues.
We have also developed broad experience in representing several clients before the national regulatory authorities such as Infarmed (Portuguese Health Authority), Competition Authority, Portuguese Securities Commission, ANACOM (Telecommunications Authority) in the context of misdemeanour proceedings launched by these entities within the scope of their fields of action.
In addition, at VdA we regularly team up with international firms assisting clients in matters pending in foreign jurisdictions, particularly in Europe and North America.
